LORE : Facts or traditions about a subject accumulated over time through education or experience; a body of knowledge, especially of a traditional, anecdotal or popular nature; the backstory...

I have acquired the lore of a long life, my posts ebb and flow with the unraveling of hours and the tides of creative energy.

My inspiration to create is stronger than my motivation to publish. I can be fearless or fragile, performer or recluse; but when someone connects to a song or photograph, laughs or sheds a tear from my written words, that brings a larger purpose to a small endeavour.

"I should not talk so much about myself if there were anybody else whom I know as well.....I trust that none will stretch the seams in putting on the coat, for it may do good service to him whom it fits." Henry David Thoreau, Walden

The posts below simply drift on their own breezes. Some of them contain songs, videos or nature photography. If you'd like to explore any of those beyond the posts, I invite you to use the links to YouTube and Instagram below, or spend some time on the Listen (Music) page of the website.

If we share common interests or something here sparks your curiosity, I hope you'll consider your time well-spent and know that I appreciate it.

I can make no promises other than sincerity of effort. 😊🙏🏼 Thank you.

A new song! "For All of Us"

My Martin guitar turned 50 this year! It was born in 1973, the same year we went off to Acadia university in Wolfville, what a great time to be alive!

Walking in Winter's Garden

Another Christmas past, and as we settle into the in-between days before the New Year arrives, I confess it’s one of my favourite parts of the holiday season. This is the time when a semblance of normal returns to our…

The Birds of Summer (2022)

“If I were an artist, trying to paint this ballet of birds,
Would I find my brushstrokes, as lacking as my words?
Every time I raise my eyes, something new on the shore,
Seasons change, a shame there’s names for

Playing Favourites with Native Plants

I’ve got a passion for backyard birding and nature photography. A few years ago I started reading about local endangered and invasive species in forests and wetlands, something to watch for on my nature walks.

It was only last year…

Appreciating April - Welcome Back!

Don’t you just love the month of April? It kicks off with a celebration of fools, can be murky and fickle at first, but for me, it’s the actual beginning of spring here at 44° north. (I don’t trust calendars…

We believe

to leave
more than tracks
in the snow

I'm losing track of time. March is here, where did February go? It's the shortest month of the year, but it…
