From the recording My Collectibles
The Minas Basin in the Bay of Fundy has the highest tides in the world. Spending time with my husband Mike at his home in Avonport inspired this song. (Tidal Bay is also the name of Nova Scotia's new wine appellation, no relation, but it is very fine wine.)
Lyrics
The Tidal Bay
Ah… Hey…
If I were an artist, painting this view,
I’d go through a thousand canvasses and each one would be true.
Chasing a waterline that moves a mile each day.
The ocean at my feet, my feet deep in the clay.
You and I on the beach, hand in hand,
low tide, strolling on the sand,
pockets heavy with the weight of stones and shells,
the wind off the mountain, a change in the swells,
you come to learn, when it’s time to turn.
Ah…
Hey…
Ah…
The Tidal Bay
If I were an artist, painting this ballet of birds,
would my brush strokes be as lacking as my words?
Every time I raise my eyes, something new on the shore.
Seasons change, a shame there’s names for only four.
You and I on the beach, late at night,
high tide, the moon our only light.
Washed away the tracks of dinosaurs and men.
We head for higher ground once again.
You come to learn, when it’s time to turn.
Ah…
Hey…
Ah…
On The Tidal Bay
Ah…Hey…
