From the recording The Sunset Sessions Vol. 1

We're more inclined to fight our friend when we've misidentifed our enemy. A song about social conscience and accountability, but at its heart - Give Peace a Chance (that's all we are saying.)

Lyrics

All We Are Saying

How can we say it’s a new beginning
how can we pray for a brand-new start
If we’re still okay with the losing and winning
that still to this day tears us apart
You say be kind - who do you have in mind?
(It’s not so hard, from our own backyard)
Who makes the rules? Who plays the game?
You can’t hit the target if you don’t know where to aim

The stories we tell to our children’s children
what do we sell, what will they buy?
Is it heaven or hell, that we built them?
“When everything fell - tell us why!”
We tried, we tried, there were fires in the sky
It was too late to turn, we let it all burn
Who gets to forgive? Who takes the blame?
You can’t slay a dragon from the wrong side of the flame

Get on the floor and dance, the band’s still playing
Give peace another chance, that’s all we are saying

What did we need in the taking and giving?
History will read how we defined
what it means to succeed, what makes a living
who gets to lead, who’s left behind…
Who calls it change if it all stays the same?
You can’t beat the devil if you won’t even say his name
